In the Spring of 2015 I recieved a comission through a call to artists from BaCa, in Pompano Beach, FL. The project was to paint one of twelve sculptures of this fish, which would then be put on display in the public realm of Pompano Beach, Fl.
It only seemed natural for me to paint the fish in honor of my grandfather Jim Collins II (Pop Pop). He was a very important figure in my life, and his favorite fish to catch happened to be pompano. He lived his life in South Florida, and loved fishing. So here's to you Pop Pop. The sculpture is on display at the public fishing pier in Pompano Beach. |
